no you just had to pray really really hard that it would go where you wanted it to

One of the German pilots featured in Chris Goff's Luftwaffe Fighters and Bombers liked the adjustable variable speed prop better than the constant speed prop. He could get better performance. But he noted that inexperienced pilots had a hard time finding the sweet spot.
