| Normally the rank at the olympics is based on the 'metal' of the medals, so China is leading with 2 golds and US is second with one gold, one silver and one bronze. No matter how many medals you have in total, the ranking is driven by the number of the highest ranking medals.

| You forgot about Women's Individual fencing. US swept the category with a 1-1-1.

| No I did not forget it. I just forgot to put the scores of the matches. That is how the US has their loan gold at the moment is from fencing. In fact that is how they got all 3 of the medals listed in the table.

| I think the organization is not bad, but I do not feel that China deserved the Olympics.

| Senior Member | Every country does things to make it look more appealing to the outside world and make it look all calm and welcoming. In 2000 when we had the games every homeless person in sydney was moved so it looked like we were perfect. Same would have happend in Athens and i suspect China would have cleaned up Bejing a lot as well. This is China's big chance to prove to the world that it does not still have a Mao legacie and it has moved on and now is a major player in the world it is also a fantastic oppotunity to try and get Tourists.

A perfect example is not allowing the Press to report freely on the event or surrounding news stories. Everything has to be pre approved. When the US tourist was killed, everyone in the area (shop owners, residents, etc.) were forbidden by the state to talk to reporters. The fact that atheletes are not allowed to comment on China's political policies, or the fact that when westerners try to protest something such as Tibet at the Olympics they are being escorted out.

| I support the Olympics but not China. Journo's cant even get the BBC website from the Beijing media centre, plus the internet is extraordinarily slow. Anyway, go Australia!

unfortunelly(or not) politics and sports walk together. i think chine deserves the olympics ny its people. chinese are a very hard working people and they also are very funny people. china is also a country that born before the first classical olympic games in grece, i gess. the starting ceremony was totally awsome. really amazing. ---------------------------------------------------- lets see if you folks knows the hitory of the games: wich Olympic games started the tradition of taking a torch from olympia - greece to the host city of games?
