Bugger!!

At least we finished ahead of the divers.

I just saw a chart showing what some of the coaches are paid...
Marco Lippi (ITA) - $5,300,000 NZD (2nd highest)
Ricki Herbert (NZL) - $50,000 NZD (lowest)

I think he deserves a pay rise

We going to play with the winner of England vs Germany,

Don't put the cart in front of the horse. That is the biggest mistake anybody can make. You have to make it out of the Round of 16 first. I too think that Argentina will beat Mexico, but anybody can win. A game is 90 minutes long, but it only takes 1 mistake, 1 lucky goal, 1 second for any team to beat any team.

And on to the Netherlands game:

Netherlands played a good game. Cameroon picked it up and played a good 2nd half, but it certainly was a deserved win by the Dutch. I am really glad to see Robben get some playing time. He is one of my favorite players and is such a dynamic player. He certainly brings another dimension to the Dutch team. It will certainly be fun watching them for the rest of the tournament.

I think the Germany - England game is too close to call.

Really do.

Cant even predict a score never mind a winner.

Just hope that the better team goes through and the game is a classic.

I too hope for a classic game with lots of goals, sitting at the edge of the seat. No matter who wins (I do hope it is Germany though).

Some British Newspaper said this today and I thought it was funny as hell:

"This World Cup is like World War II; the French surrendered early, the
Yanks arrive last minute and we're left to battle the Germans."

That's funny!

I think we will see at least 2 yellow cards and maybe a red in the England-Germany game.

IMO, I think Argentina is the favorite with a couple teams a very close 2nd.

Of course, Germany is much better than they showed. The first game against Australie must be a warning for the English.

Still not impressed by our own team. Although they played with a little more passion and were really good at times, over all they played a lot backwards and the defense was not very solid. Still, 2 nice goals and some improvement. Robbe had a good 15 minutes on the field. That last goal was actually his, but hi hit the pole. Huntelaar was at the right spot as he should be.

Now the Japanese, what a game! They deserved to win and I'm glad they're on to the next stage. I think Honda's price will be much higher in the next transfers :)

I can't wait for the matches this weekend. Anything can happen, but I don't think it's unreasonable for USA to beat Ghana.

Spain looked much better today. I think it will be a good game with them versus Portugal. same, with Chile and Brazil. I reckon those and the England Germany/Argentina Mexico games will be the best of the next round.

I am very much looking forward to the Argentina/Mexico match. Maradona is doing a hell of a job, but Aguirre has me a bit puzzled. Aguirre can make some changes that will produce better results, especially concerning Hernandez's playing time, and Guardado's position.

Argentina fields some of my favorite players in the sport(Milito, Demichelis), so I am rooting strongly for them. Not to mention that Mexico is USA's greatest rival and I cannot root for them.:p

Can't wait until this weekends games. I will unfortunately miss the Argentina - Mexico game because of a Birthday I have to go to. I will make it home for the USA - Ghana match though. On Sunday I will be heading to the public viewing in our local area for the Germany - England game. Going to be a good time!

This is when the World Cup gets exciting!

Couple of small adjustments to those stats.

Woo hoo, just realized the only game I will be missing this weekend is the Uruguay - South Korea game. The Argentina - Mexico game is on after the Germany - England game tomorrow! I don't have to miss the two best games of the round of 16!

Three more coaches out, that's now 5 including the Italian and French coaches:

Sven-Goran Eriksson has resigned as coach of Ivory Coast after the team was eliminated from the World Cup.

Otto Rehhagel's nine-year reign with the Greece national side has come to an end after it was confirmed he has resigned following the country's elimination from the World Cup.

Paul Le Guen has quit as Cameroon coach following their dismal performance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
