Can anyone help me determine anything about this compass? At the moment all I can tell is Yokogawa Electric made it, but when and what it might have been installed in evades me. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

第 R61027 號 (☆)
昭和 年 月
㍿ 横河電機製作所

Serial No. R61027 (Army stamp)
Production date (looks blank)
Manufacturer Yokogawa Electric Co. Ltd.

N.538 on the right-bottom looks a serial model number of Yokogawa.

This gauge looks like the Type 96 compass.
A rare find.

Manufactuers: Tokyo Koku Keiki, Yokogawa Electric
Applied airframes: Small planes like Type 97 fighter, Type 95 trainer of early, mid-period
Remark: Manufactured circa 1937

Well done my friend ! :thumbright:

Wow! Thanks a lot folks, I did not expect such a detailed reply so quickly. Clearly I found the right group of people, I am very grateful!

As aside, even with the gradual reduction in fluid in the compass, it still works extremely accurately, though I haven't tried to fly anywhere with it...
