Modern military movements for Warbirds over Wanaka

Hi guys, some shots of modern military movements at Christchurch Airport for Warbirds over Wanaka taken on the first day of the airshow. The big stuff is not based at Wanaka Airport because it is too small, so it transits from CHC. A buddy and I travelled to CHC to see what we could photograph. We weren't disappointed...

Two Vipers came to town.

Moose's departure - in case y'all weren't sure, the C-17 has the nickname Moose locally, the type is a staple of the Antarctic season and CHC is where the United States Antarctic Survey operate from.

These shots are taken from the 6th floor bar of the airport Novotel, which provides a great view of the Antarctic ramp. The staff don't mind if we photographers park ourselves there to take photos, as long as we patron the bar... Now, who said plane spotting was boring...?
