Steampunk for the most part - you don't have to be able to explain/rationalize how it works. A heat/death ray is a heat/death ray. Broadcast energy effects on the cancer rates? pish-posh!

I saw a steam punk laptop in a magazine a few years back. It literally required a brass key to unlock it. I think it weighed over 20 pounds.
