Dive Bomber - again - trivia search: on your next viewing of "Dive Bomber" try to spot the Skua - visible less than a minute.

Men of the Sky (1942) - A 1/2 hour color movie of USAAF training. Minimal nonsense.

Jet Pilot (1957) - Good visuals of F-86As @ Ladd AFB, much formation flying, along with appearances by F-94A, XF-89 (briefly), F-89B, B-36B with turrets extended, no aux jet engines, EB-50 as mother ship for X-1 (which made it's last two flights in this movie & wore the same paint @ Smithsonian till 1976). The plot was terrible, John Wayne said it was the worse movie he made, but Janet Leigh was good to watch. The USSR scenes were @ George AFB because it was primitive enough. The actual movie was shot between 8 DEC 1949 & 8 FEB 1950. A fun thing to see is the browns & blues of the uniforms as well as the shoulder patches from surplus stores. The major problem was Howard Hughes' constant changes as well as financial studio sales/transfers/deals leading to the late release in 1957. The original idea was to showcase the new USAF and the jet age, but by 1957 the planes shown were obsolescent. The only plane really active by then was the T-33 which appeared as the "Yak-12". Flying at altitude with no tip tanks, I have wondered how long the flights were considering the aerobatics.
