Man, I love those Tamiya 47s! Bother looking good, Don. Scratch building a gun bay can be a blast. One the few I have done, I only use the "body" of the guns in the bay and keep the molded in barrels.

Thanks guys, I found some pictures to reference. One from Pacificwrecks.com has the 47's gun bay on display. the other are for Eduard bays in 48 and 32 scale.
I'm sure I won't make it look that nice, but will give it the old college try. This last is from P-47 in Detail and Scale by Bert Kinzey!

While I'm working the gun bay I'll be needing some stuff for it so the work on Hun Hunter will slow down as I get stuff ordered. Namely .50 bullets, they seem to be necessary for guns, go figure. In the meantime, as hard as I tried not to put any filler in, both of these needed a small amount on the lower seam, The pic is not the best as I just need to wash the plane, trust me it's pretty well cleaned up.

So I fully committed to doing the gun tub by glueing the wings on. then I stole four .50's from my one of my Monogram/Revell B-25J's (I've got too many anyway) and started placements. Had a glue drop fall on the wing I have to clean up but as ugly as the tray is it won't be seen to closely, I'll do what I can to clean it up anyway.

However, note that the gun barrels on the P-47 were enclosed in smooth, stainless steel 'blast tubes', with the actual gun muzzles set back within the tubes.

Thanks Terry, this is just fitting test. The barrels will be cut to length with the kit tubes being used.
