Japanese horizontal bombing?

Interesting. I do NOT read Japanese, but the diagrams are almost readable since English notation is used for them and the associated equations. It would help to have a translation on the diagrams and equations. It's clear that they spend most of this paper trying to figure out how to sink a ship using horizontal bombing. The U.S. Navy did the same thing and developed the Norden Bombsight for that purpose, but when tested it failed and the Navy went to dive bombing. When was this report written (I'm guessing about the same time as the Navy Norden development)? Gyroscopes See link to TED talk about the Norden and how it did not work.

Toward the end of the paper they are looking at flying in patterns in the hope one of the bombs hits the target. This has the look and feel of a paper in The World of Mathematics related to depth charge patterns.
