This is the last crew of the Liberty Run. In the front row center (light overalls and cap) is my father, Robert Meyers, ball turret gunner. To the left of him is Homer Dumont, radio operator. Please let me know if any one can identify the others. Several were captured and taken to Stalag Luft IV near Stargard. All survived and returned to the United States.

Bs Uffz. Max Speck killed on return flight from attack on Hull while aircraft crashed on landing approach for Soesterberg 14-7-1943. Do217K-1 U5+FM 4/KG2 4350. Also killed Ff Fw Detlev Kruger, B Gef Heinrich Salecker, Bf Uffz. Fritz Bellmann.

American Lt. Jack Terzian 353rd F.G. 351st F.S with Republic P-47D-2-RA Thunderbolt 42-22469 YJ-Z Marty (356th FG, 360th FS, 8th AF) shot down by Fw 190A-8 flown by Uffz Gartz of JG2/2 at Langgons, NE of Butzbach, W of Wetzler, Germany Sep 9, 1944. MACR 8656. Pilot killed.

Lt. Jack Terzian became Prisoner of War (POW) crashed at Letterhouten on 22 May 44 in P-47 42-25730 Evaded capture through the Belgium Underground until 12 July 1944 when he was captured by the Gestapo and imprisoned in St. Gilles prison in Brussels. . He escaped when the train carrying them out of the city derailed on 12 Sept 44 Evaded (EVD)

Republic P-47D-22-RE 42-25730 (353rd FG, 351st FS, 8th AF) hit by 20-mm AAA on outskirts of Liege, Belgium but flew until prop came off and engine quit and crash landed 10 mi NE of Brussels near Burst, Belgium May 22, 1944. MACR 5101.

The aircraft was lost due to the No. 1 engine failing, causing excessive fuel usesage. The entire crew bailed out safely but T/Sgt. Williams had trouble with his life-jacket and his chute dragged him down before the other crew members could reach him.
