As always I would like to say thanks to all who offered advice, commented or just popped in for a shufti.

 
If the crappy Wi-Fi could finish loading, I could say that's a beautiful job. I'll go with life experience and assume it's a totally Bitchin' job.
 
Though its too late now, I had a friend pick up a bottle of Tamiya Satin Coat and redid the tops of wings and elevators on the model. Its still a bit wet but there is a noticeable difference between the reflection of the 14 on the tail
