Old P-51D Model/Toy

I found this at a local antique store. It's not painted, the light blue/gray and dark blue is the color of the plastic. Wing span is 16", approx. 1/28 scale. The elevators have a plastic hinge while the ailerons and rudder are molded solid. It's held together with screws and nuts. No manufacturer markings in the plastic. Any ideas which company made/sold these or when?
